Steve Waugh Has Aussies Ahead For The Ashes

Former Aussie captain Steve Waugh believes Australia are favorites in this year’s Ashes series, but feels bowling selections will be crucial to the outcome. Waugh was a major part of four triumphant Ashes tours between 1989 and 2001, leading Australia to victory in his last series in England.

“We’ve got a very good squad, no matter who is going to be put on the park,” said Waugh after addressing some NSW Olympians at an SCG function this week.

“Our top 11 players will compete against anyone. I don’t see why we can’t win, but England will probably feel the same. There’s probably a bit to go regarding team selection and fitness before that, so I’m not sure who our first XI is going to be and whose England is going to be in the first Test, the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Waugh, as saying.

In the real world though it is clear that the Aussie cricket team simply do not have the talent they use to have. I’m sure going to stick a few quid on England although I think is will be close.

Sorry Waugh, but you are highly deluded!”
