Shy & retiring Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted his sensational winner against Porto on Wednesday was the best goal of his career.

Ronaldo’s 40-yard strike pushed Manchester United past Porto and into a mouth-watering Champions League semi-final against old foes Arsenal.

“That’s the best goal I’ve ever scored. I didn’t know it was from 40 yards and flew at 65 mph until I saw the television replay after the game. Wow! It was a fantastic strike,” the Daily Express quoted Ronaldo, as saying.

“This victory will give us confidence. We didn’t play well in the previous five games, but I’m hoping this will change all that. Arsenal play great football, we know them well and they are going to be two great ties. But we are confident that we can reach the final,” Ronaldo added.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was also very impressed, saying: “I’ve got to dig deep into the memory banks to remember a better goal – it was a sensational shot and gave us the perfect start.”
